The most common complaint about Dryfire practice is the lack of recoil simulation and the need to constantly reset the striker on single action models. The Coolfire System solves both of these issues for less than the price of a case of ammo:
Coolfire Compatibility:
MantisX. Dryfire training alone is helpful of course, but the MantisX gives you real time actual feedback.
I mostly use my MantisX with my handgun. And it’s very useful to go through the drills as well otherwise I get caught up on chasing that perfect 100% trigger press. Accuracy is fine, but I see more flaws once I start to rush myself. The Hostage Taker Drill is one of my favorite because it includes drawing from the holster (I use a Werkz light compatible holster that also allows use with the Mantis). Being the complex piece of magic that it is, the Mantis can sense when it’s been holstered, then puts you through a speed drill where you need at least an 80% perfect trigger press.
DryFire Mag – a cheaper option
On the more budget friendly side, the Dryfire Mag resets your handgun striker for you and allows you to tune it to match your trigger with different springs. It’s available for Glock, Sigs, S&Ws, & Springfields.
“What about ARs?”
MantisX10 works great with pistols/rifles/shotguns and even archery. But serious competitors need a bit more than single shot capability. That’s where the new Blackbeard system comes in. This is an automatic resetting BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) that replaces your live fire bolt and magazine (which acts as the battery pack). With this in place, your trigger resets itself faster than you can pull the trigger – even works with full auto (useless, but fun fact).
